Connecting companies and international talents
The Chamber Talent Boost project of the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce focuses on strengthening the connections between companies and international talents, supporting a company’s internationalization capabilities, as well as providing and developing employer counseling services for the International House Helsinki.
The aim of the project is to create an ecosystem that strengthens connections and brings together companies, employers and international talents in the Helsinki region to promote the internationalization of companies and to create wider and stronger networks between universities, cities, international talents and businesses.
During the project, the Chamber of Commerce can carry out the following activities:
• The Entry Point Mentoring Program is a cross-cultural mentoring program for companies, international students and graduates. The program aims to strengthen the professional networks, intercultural communication and leadership skills of the participants and establish a mutually beneficial interactive mentoring partnership.
• Matchmaking and networking events strengthen networks and connect companies, international talent and experts, while creating new connections in an easy and efficient way.
• To support a company’s internationalization capabilities, the Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Business Finland, is developing a diversity tool that allows a company to map the capabilities of its own organization to better recruit an international workforce. The tool provides insight into what the company practices and its organizational culture. It also gives tips on how to develop the organization to be more open to an international workforce. Furthermore, the tool provides the company with information on existing services and guidance related to the international workforce.
• As part of a company’s ability to recruit international talent and support its internationalization capabilities, a nationwide Successful Multicultural Company (Menestyvä monikulttuurinen yritys) campaign will be organized. The campaign aims to highlight successful business cases and award companies and organizations that have been effective in multiculturalism and internationalization. In addition, the campaign encourages companies and employers to develop diversity and international business.
Employer counseling and advisory services are part of the International House Helsinki (IHH) services. The Chamber of Commerce provides free counseling and service guidance to employers on issues related to the international workforce. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce participates in the development of the IHH services.
The Chamber Talent Boost project is part of a wider Helsinki Metropolitan Area International Talents Accelerating Growth program. In addition to the Chamber of Commerce, the project is implemented by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, Aalto University, University of Helsinki, Hanken School of Economics, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki Business Hub and Helsinki Marketing Ltd. The project is funded by Talent Boost AIKO and will run until the end of April 2021. The Chamber of Commerce subproject is also supported and financed by TEK and the Uusimaa Regional Council.
